Sleepers - Denise McHale

Sleepers is a series of images which explore the boundary between dreams and reality. The images question whether, when we dream, do we sleepwalk into another reality? Although we think of this as a dream, are we in fact really there? And does the symbolism of the places we visit in our dream world reflect our real life journey?

The locations for the series have been photographed and then projected onto the unidentified subject, to reflect the fact that the subject is in the landscape but is never actually there.

This image is part of a series of images taken on the grounds of the Grims Dyke. The pond is the last remaining section of what used to be the boating lake which was drained after the owner died trying to save a local girl from drowning.

Bearing It All - JanieP

This image of 'Defiance' is one less commonly found within the category of Mental Health - the subject of my Major Project, which explores the issues of Bi-polar illness.  This autobiographical series incorporates my interest in the Nude as well as intending to help break down certain stigmas and stereotypes associated with this often taboo subject.  I also intended to bring an element of, somewhat, dark, humour to my work which is staged within the 'alternative asylum' of the public house!  Think on......!
